Job Description

  • Providing legal advice and services to management and business departments concerning commercial banking transactions, vendor agreements, litigation matters, legal and regulatory requirements and expectations, and corporate governance issues.
  • Drafting, negotiating and reviewing complex legal documents pertaining to commercial banking, credit and vendors
  • Working closely with business lines to ensure the timely identification and mitigation of business, legal and regulatory risks
  • Assigning, monitoring and providing guidance to outside counsel handling commercial transactions and litigation
  • Reviewing, drafting and updating internal policies and procedures
  • Handling civil information subpoenas, grand jury subpoenas, restraining orders, governmental, judicial and other inquiries, requests and orders
  • Actively participating in risk management, including without limitation
  • Actively participating in other daily work/tasks of the legal team as needed

The Successful Applicant

  • JD
  • Admitted to NY State Bar
  • 6+ years of experience within financial services legal, ideally gained at a top law firm and in-house within banking
  • Experience advising on a wide range of commercial credit and finance transactions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player
  • Fluency in Mandarin a plus
