Job Description

This position will develop and implement sourcing strategies that ensure timely delivery of quality owner-furnished wind turbine equipment to projects, provide technical and procurement expertise to the development business units, and manage procurement processes from vendor selection through construction. The Director, Strategic Procurement (Wind) will contribute to forward-looking technology and cost roadmaps, integrating analysis of market and regulatory factors, and contributing to the achievement of US domestic content and ESG goals.

You will:

  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with the major OEMs, managing multi-year and multi-project framework agreements and best-in-class commercial terms
  • Oversee the procure-to-pay process for owner-furnished wind turbine equipment including vendor qualification and on-boarding, vendor selection, TSA negotiations, internal approvals, issuance of purchase orders, management of payments, logistics, and quality assurance
  • Develop and maintain forward-looking technology and cost projections for owner-furnished wind turbine equipment and any associated balance of plant equipment
  • Perform as an expert in technology and procurement strategies and support the business in providing market knowledge to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead technology assessments and reviews of existing and upcoming turbine platforms, effectively communicate the opportunities and risks associated with each technology
  • Monitor and evaluate the risk of geopolitical and regulatory factors that impact the supply chain and develop mitigation and/or contingency procurement strategies
  • Contribute to the achievement of ESG goals including supplier diversity and carbon reduction targets
  • Assist with the project financing process, facilitating inputs from OEMs and interdisciplinary teams to independent engineering (IE) questions
  • Manage Wind-focused procurement staff; providing guidance and supporting employee development.

The Successful Applicant



  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain or Engineering/Technical Degree preferred
  • 7+ years of wind procurement experience required
  • Experience in supplier management and commercial negotiations
  • Experience leading people and working effectively across business functions
  • Experience in construction and project development is preferred
  • Effective project management, negotiation, contract management, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with procurement systems including SAP and Coupa is preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
