About Our Client

My client is a NYC staple, focused in the food and beverage industry they have both a DTC, Wholesale, and Retail business. This role will focus on their 3 NYC retail locations and oversee those GMs/Team Leaders.

The District Operations Manager will report to the VP of Operations, and will travel between the three locations in NYC & their headquarters. I'm looking for candidates who have experience managing in a retail space, have a proven track record in focusing on sales and financial acumen, and has put Operational Excellence processes in place.

Job Description

  • Lead, develop & track financial, operational, & talent performance of their three retail locations & restaurant.
  • Lead development, execution & results of retail & restaurant plans (Quarterly Action Plans) to drive top-line growth and bottom-line profitability. This plan supplements the work done through the Monthly Merchandising Plan (MMP) at the individual store level.
  • Lead & coach teams to ensure monthly execution of MMPs (Monthly Merchandising Plans) are completed on time, in full. Represent the voice of Retail & Restaurant cross-functionally. Ensure that inventory and fill levels are maintained for each location.
  • Lead cross-functional relationships with internal departments and key stakeholders
  • Continually assess our retail & restaurant customer experience and ensure that it offers a consistent, inviting, and ultimately delightful customer experience
  • Support GMs/SM through all team development phases: determining/approving hiring needs, staff development & training oversight, performance review process, and progressive discipline support
  • Work with NYC Training & Curriculum to coordinate training standards, SOPs, and service protocols for all locations and teams, including producer trainings and team member trips.
  • Engage and coach store teams to promote the values and mission of the company
  • Ensure that aesthetic appearance and experience of stores meets or exceeds brand standards
  • Initiate timelines, deliverables, and best practices to move along projects while tracking, documenting, and assigning responsibilities to key members
  • Develop a broad understanding of our business, opportunities, shortfalls and needs within other departments
  • Other duties as assigned

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years in a mix of retail and hospitality management with an emphasis on business operations
  • Strong financial skills with 3+ years of P&L management within a professional environment
  • Effective communication (listening, verbal, and written) skills and ability to work well with all levels of management, team members & customers
  • Great time management skills with a sense of urgency and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel) and experience with NetSuite preferred
  • Monitor progress, compare to strategy, and take corrective action where needed
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
  • Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising best practices
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with food safety compliance including NYS Department of Agriculture regulations
  • A sincere passion for food, beverage, and customer service
  • College degree or equivalent education or training
