Job Description

The main duties and responsibilities for the Energy Storage - Project Developer - Chicago - include:

  • Develop utility-scale BESS projects from prospecting through final investment decision.
  • Use commercial guidance to identify project locations with the ability to understand project success and identify critical flaws.
  • Site acquisition including landowner lease/purchase option negotiations.
  • Creation and management of an overall project strategy plan.
  • Use strong project management fundamentals to develop and own project schedule, critical path, and critical issues management and reporting.
  • Project budget and cash flow projection, management, and tracking.
  • Coordination of the project interconnection process.
  • Support of pro forma financial modeling.
  • Proactive coordination of preliminary project design / working with construction team to generate creative design solutions for complex project sites.
  • Creation and management of a project public relations plan.
  • Coordination of project environmental studies.
  • Coordination of local, state, and federal permitting processes.
  • Coordination and negotiation of real estate curative items.

The Successful Applicant

In return for a competitive remuneration package, the successful Energy Storage - Project Developer - Chicago will possess the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferable but not mandatory.
  • 1-3 years relevant experience - could be sales experience, could be project development, what I am more interested in is the character of the person. The drive, and willingness to get our and meet with Landowners, learning from closely working with the C-Suite.
  • Ideally someone that's taken a Utility-Scale project through construction - highly desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-driven and solutions-oriented.
  • Knowledge of environmental and site permitting processes.
  • Proven track record in project management and permitting success.
  • Knowledge of energy industry specific regulatory and legislative frameworks included tax abatement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Power-Point, etc.
  • Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar software experience.
  • Preference for a dynamic work environment and industry that is constantly changing.
  • Leadership traits are a must; must have the ability to successfully lead cross-functional and dynamic project teams in a matrix organisation.



Someone who's familiar with Energy Storage technologies, and/or Project Development would position themselves well to get the role.

Self-motivation is going to be a key aspect to success as well.

What's on Offer

Base salary up to $150k - depending on experience.Annual bonus - 25%.

Potential for a project related bonus.

Based in Illinois is preferred rather than someone who's willing to relocate. Unless you are actively relocating to the Chi. area.
