The Engineering Manager will oversee the manufacturing engineering teams at our client's facility in the Northern IL suburbs. This role will work closely with the VP to help align the sites to overarching strategy of the client, due to rapid growth in the past few years. The ideal candidate has experience leading engineering teams, and has a demonstrated track record leading projects & teams to success.

About Our Client

Our client is a manufacturer of industrial machinery and equipment serving the manufacturing, mining, and warehouse space. Due to recent partnerships they've effectively been able to penetrate new markets and experience rapid growth. They've brought it a new VP to help drive the companies efforts on the manufacturing side to accomodate the growth they've sustained. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will play a key role in driving those efforts.

Job Description

  • Oversee the efforts of the Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Services and New Product Development teams at IL site
  • Analyze potential projects, distribute work, and provide ROI to stakeholders and board level employees
  • Align leadership techniques to overarching strategy and values of the client
  • Drive strategic planning initiatives and alignment between the two sites
  • Develop, monitor, and adjust budgets for areas of responsibility
  • Manage ERP system including item entry, routings, rates, and Bills of Material.
  • Lead manufacturing engineering activities at both sites
  • Oversee the design and maintenance of strategic initiatives
  • Lead the Tool and Die design and controlled processes
  • Support New Product Implementation through process phase and launch, and tooling development
  • Identify areas we can improve our manufacturing processes to improve, Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
  • Direct team to provide input to product designs for manufacturability and completeness
  • Oversee plant maintenance and facilities, implementing industry leading techniques and processes to increase equipment uptime & reliability to meet established KPI's
  • Responsible for staff hiring, firing and training

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
  • Background in metal stamping with large tonnages is required
  • 10+ years of engineering experience within manufacturing
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineers
  • Strong Lean manufacturing expertise and project management experience
  • Effective communication skills to stakeholders and upper management
  • Proven tract record of continuous improvement

What's on Offer

  • Base salary between $140,000 and $160,000 depending on years of experience and interview performance
