Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist - Biotech

The key responsibilities of the ESH Specialist are:

• Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NIH, USDA, and other regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses, focusing on biosafety, chemical safety, and occupational exposure risks.
• Provide safety training on laboratory procedures, animal handling, ergonomics, and emergency response.
• Oversee safe handling, storage, and disposal of biological agents, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
• Monitor vivarium operations to ensure best practices in animal care, facility sanitation, and exposure control.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Conduct EHS audits and inspections, identifying and mitigating hazards in research environments.
• Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, assisting with compliance reporting, permitting, and inspections.
• Support sustainability initiatives, waste management programs, and environmental compliance efforts.
• Maintain and update safety data sheets (SDS), chemical inventories, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
