Description

  • Review construction documents and understand scope of work to bid.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings to familiarize with the site conditions, determine project scope and required contents of estimate.
  • Conduct an analysis of the project documents for completeness, changes, construct ability, alternates, value engineering, scheduling impact and quality issues.
  • Obtain pricing for materials.
  • Prepare estimate utilizing company software. Finalize estimate and send to management for approval.
  • Contact and generate subcontractor/vendor interest in the project.
  • Present estimate turnover in-house to the project team.
  • Evaluate self-performed work once completed. Compare estimated costs to actual costs.
  • Develop and maintain resource information on products, subcontractors, vendors, etc.
  • Analyze unsuccessful bids to help define the root cause and develop better practices.
  • Other duties as assigned

The Successful Applicant

  • Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Presentation skills
  • 1-3 years estimating experience Basic construction knowledge/experience
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong memory recall
  • Ability to navigate project sites
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
  • Prioritize and plan work activities and uses time efficiently under extreme deadlines
  • High school diploma or GED Degree in Engineering preferred
