Job Description

  1. Federal Tax Compliance:
    • Prepare and review federal tax returns, including forms 1120 and related schedules, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations.
    • Coordinate and manage federal tax audits, responding to inquiries from tax authorities and resolving issues in a timely manner.
    • Stay abreast of changes in federal tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the company and implementing necessary adjustments to tax strategies and compliance procedures.

  2. Tax Planning and Strategy:
    • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position and minimize tax liabilities.
    • Conduct research and analysis on complex tax issues, providing guidance and recommendations to senior management on tax-related matters.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions and initiatives.

  3. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and disclosures related to income taxes in accordance with GAAP and statutory requirements.
    • Analyze tax provisions and deferred tax assets/liabilities, ensuring accuracy and completeness in financial reporting.
    • Provide support for financial planning and forecasting activities, assessing the tax implications of various scenarios and initiatives.

  4. Tax Compliance Processes:
    • Develop and maintain internal controls and procedures related to federal tax compliance, ensuring adherence to established policies and regulations.
    • Implement process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting and compliance processes.
    • Provide training and guidance to finance and accounting staff on federal tax matters and compliance procedures.

The Successful Applicant

In return for a competitive remuneration package, the successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in federal tax compliance and planning, preferably in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm.
  • Strong understanding of federal tax laws and regulations, including corporate income tax provisions and regulations.
  • Proficiency in tax software applications and financial reporting systems; experience with SAP or Oracle is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and compliance processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
