Job Description

The key responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer:

  • Travel to customer sites across the U.S. for laser system installations and field service support
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diode and ultrafast fiber laser systems
  • Provide technical support and laser system troubleshooting via phone, email, and onsite visits
  • Assist with in-house repairs and alignments in a fully equipped service lab
  • Collaborate with engineering and applications teams to deliver customized technical solutions
  • Travel to headquarters in Germany for product training and professional development
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction and service turnaround times

The Successful Applicant

The successful Field Service Engineer will have:

  • Degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master's minimum, PhD preferred)
  • Hands-on experience working with CW or ultrafast lasers and optical alignment
  • Strong knowledge of laser system design and optical principles
  • Comfortable using lab equipment like oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power supplies
  • Willing to travel up to 50% and be onsite in Rochester, NY when not traveling
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first mindset
  • U.S. citizenship required due to work in government laboratories
