Job Description

The role will involve:

Accounting & Finance - 80%

  • Responsible for all day-to-day accounting tasks, such as journal entries, invoice and payment processing, monthly account reconciliations, cash forecasting, and payroll
  • Manage the organization's annual budgeting process in coordination with Executive Director and Deputy Director
  • Producing the trial balance and financial statements, including, but not limited to, balance sheet and statements of income and of cash flows on a quarterly an annual basis for the staff and board
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local legal requirements, keeping up to date on changes to those laws, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions
  • Liaise with Development staff to track grant budgets, ensure accurate and timely grant budget reporting, and inform fundraising needs based on revenue projections
  • Coordinate with external audit firm to lead the production annual audited financial statements
  • Maintain strong financial controls through policies and organization of documentation to preserve historical records
  • Ensure financial instruments are invested in accordance with the organization's Investment Policy
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and year end close in timely and organized manner
  • Liaise with the Treasurer and Finance and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors

Human Resources Coordination- 20%

  • Onboard new employees in our PEO system
  • Identify, design, and implement new/enhanced HR processes to bring efficiency to the organization
  • Liaise between the PEO and staff on relevant HR issues
  • Organize the process and documentation for the annual performance review cycle
  • Lead annual review of current and available PEO's, assessing benefits and associated costs
  • Manage annual review of personnel manual and any required policy updates

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will:

  • 5+ years experience in similar accounting function
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, preferably accounting or business administration, or Associate's degree with a certification from AIPB or NACPB, or other accredited bookkeeping institution
  • Highly proficient in accrual and cash basis accounting
  • Knowledge of GAAP or nonprofit finance operations principals
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with Quickbooks Online or similar accounting software
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Highly detail oriented
  • Strong ability to multitask and be a proactive communicator
  • Proactive and team player
  • Demonstrable experience collaboration with senior or executive management
  • Demonstrable experience managing consultants including auditor and accountant
  • Experience in MS Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) and/or G-Suite
