The Financial Accountant - Construction will work for an exciting, growing construction company based in Boston, MA. The position itself will partner with the CFO and be a key part of this office of 20 employees. Job Description

The Financial Accountant - Construction will be responsible for the following:

  • Accounts Payable - Enter all vendor invoices into our business operating system and accounting systems. Set up and maintain all new and existing vendor accounts plus monitor AP aging reports and bill payments.
  • Accounts Receivable - Prepare monthly payment applications (Based on AIA Construction Invoicing Documents), prepare payment applications in different construction managements systems (ie Textura and Procore), prepare and monitor monthly AR reports and manage invoice collections.
  • Expense Reporting enter all employee expense reports and maintain expense records
  • Insurance Compliance work with CFO and Insurance Broker to provide insurance certificates to all general contractors plus maintain insurance certificate tracking report and file all documentation for each project.
  • Contract Management - manage project contract documentation, set up contracts in our business system, extract contract and billing information, extract all insurance requirements and coordinate with insurance broker to get insurance certificates.
  • Review contracts and extract insurance requirements to forward to insurance broker and forward contracts to legal team and coordinate communication with operations on contract status.
  • Reporting - Maintain financial project tracking report to be reviewed weekly with the operations team plus Month End Reporting - Income Statement and Balance Sheet
  • Quarterly Performance Report and Year End Financials and Tax Prep and Quarterly Performance Reports.
  • Sales Tax Management - Work with CFO to enter and pay monthly sales tax report to various states.
  • WIP Reconciliation - Work with CFO to reconcile project work in process accounts and revenue accounts.

The Successful Applicant

The Financial Accountant - Construction should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Related Degree
  • 2 - 3+ years in Accounting within the Construction Sector
  • Systems: QuickBooks preferred
