Our chemical manufacturing company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Automation Engineer to lead and support automation projects across our global facilities. This role requires a deep understanding of process control, automation systems, and industrial applications within chemical manufacturing.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Automation Solutions: Design, configure, and troubleshoot control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA) to support production and operational needs across multiple facilities.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage automation projects from concept to implementation, ensuring alignment with company goals, budget, and timelines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Propose and implement advanced automation solutions to streamline operations.
  • Global Standardization: Develop and maintain global automation standards to promote consistency, best practices, and regulatory compliance across facilities.
  • Technical Support: Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve automation-related issues, including remote assistance as needed.
  • Training and Development: Educate and train engineering teams on automation systems and new technologies. Lead knowledge transfer sessions and support skill development initiatives.
  • Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with automation equipment suppliers and service providers. Ensure equipment and software meet quality and operational standards.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies. Regularly review and update systems to meet evolving regulatory requirements.

The Successful Applicant

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related field).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in automation engineering within the chemical or related process manufacturing industry.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley, Honeywell).
    • Proficient in programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing control systems.
    • Familiarity with cybersecurity standards for industrial control systems.
    • Knowledge of process instrumentation, sensors, and automation network protocols.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally with global teams.
  • Project Management: Proven project management experience, with the ability to lead and complete complex projects on time and within budget.
