Job Description

The role will involve:

  • Responsible for the end to end fiscal management of a portfolio of government and private grants.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of expense reports and budget modifications; perform analysis that support the timely communication of and action necessary to address budget variances.
  • Position requires an analytical and solution driven approach and the ability to understand the bigger picture and related moving parts of the accounting and budgeting cycles to successfully perform job functions.
  • Prepare timely and accurate expense reports supported by the general ledger
  • Perform monthly and other periodic analyses of budget to actual ensuring the reliability of data
  • Consistently monitor budget variances, and identify and communicate discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Responsible for the management of the Division's general ledger ensuring appropriate adjusting journal entries, revenue recognition, receivables reconciliations, etc.
  • Employ appropriate follow up to fully and completely resolve outstanding fiscal issues as they arise
  • Work closely with all stakeholders involved in identifying the need for and in the submission of Budget Modifications
  • Meet regularly with Program Leadership to ensure proper expenditures and adjust grant spending
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for funder and agency wide audits
  • Assist in identifying and implementing departmental process improvements
  • Maintain Time & Effort logs and general ledger in compliance with Uniform Guidance Requirements
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as requested
  • Work on special projects designed to enhance departmental and reporting efficiencies

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will:

  • Bachelors in Accounting or related field
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Nonprofit Accounting
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to grasp abstract information
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize work flow
  • Advanced Excel skills; Proficient in Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience using FundEZ Accounting Software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in dealing with agency staff and outside parties.
  • Minimum (3) years' related experience
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
