Our client, a well-known nonprofit based in Manhattan, is looking for an experienced Grants Accountant. This is a FTE role, and the successful candidate will have NYC/NYS grant billing & Sage Intacct or MIP experience.

About Our Client

Well-known nonprofit based in Manhattan. This role is 3 days per week in office with 2 from home, and offers an individual with NYC & NYS grant billing experience a chance to work on a collaborative team at a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

Job Description

This role will involve:

Grant Accounting/Billing: 80% - 90%

  • Prepare financial reports and invoices for all grants to ensure timely and accurate submission to government funders and private foundations.
  • Ensure financial compliance with government and private foundation funding requirements.
  • Prepare journal entries and allocations as needed.
  • Respond to funder-related inquiries from key stakeholders at Met Council and various agencies.
  • Assist in the preparation of funder desk audits.
  • Maintain accurate and updated financial records and files.



Special Projects: 10% - 20%

  • Assist the Director of Budgets and Grants Management in the preparation of special financial reports and projections as needed.
  • Maintain database of administrative contracts. This includes running queries, reports, and inputting data.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business (required).
  • At least 2-3 years of grant accounting experience required; familiarity with Private Foundations, New York City and New York State funder requirements (DFTA, DYCD, OTDA, etc) (required).
  • Familiarity with PASSPort, HHS Accelerator, Grants Gateway (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, IF functions) (required).
  • Must possess critical thinking skills; must be able to understand the impact of budgets and contracts throughout the agency.
  • Familiarity with OMB Uniform Guidance (preferred)
