My client is a design-build civil contractor headquartered in Kansas City with local projects and a strong backlog coming into 2022. They are part of multiple joint ventures and have a strong book of business to back as well. They have been in business over 100 years with annual revenue exceeding $100M. They have experience in the civil sector in almost every capacity regarding roadways and bridges. They are a strong self-perform company and treat their employees with respect to ensure a positive work environment. Safety is a top priority for them and they want their teams to have that same mentality while on the job sites. This project manager role will step into a well-known project and be an integral part from the early phases through completion. They hire for the long haul and they are looking to add someone who also wants a long term fit.

Job Description

  • Lead early meetings with the clients, internal team, field crews, engineers, and architects to ensure a singular vision
  • Formulate project time lines based off schematics and scopes of work
  • Lay out budgets and schedules for all trades and labor
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed on site by communicating with the field superintendents
  • Review and process change orders when necessary
  • Review RFIs, Submittals, Permits, and other applicable documentation
  • Communicate effectively with the client, architects, and engineers on any necessary changes to the project
  • Assist with developing new employees in the business - project engineers, estimators, and field engineers
  • Meet with internal leadership to inform them on the latest project updates

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's in applicable field (Civil Engineering, Construction Management, etc.)
  • At least 5 years of experience in a project manager or project engineer capacity with a civil contractor
  • Roads, Highways, and Bridges experience, specifically DOT work is preferred
  • Experience leading projects $20M+
  • Experience in a business development role is a plus
  • Collaborative attitude, communicate effectively with internal team and external stakeholders
  • PE license is a plus
  • Ability to stay organized and up to date on project budgets, schedules, materials, and changes
