About Our Client

A well renowned non-profit organization based in Mid-town Manhattan. This particular organization is expanding rapidly and is planning to relocate to a larger site with exciting opportunities in the near future.

Job Description

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Keep abreast of all appropriate local, state, and federal employment regulations, including (but not limited to) Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Affordable Care Act (ACA), COVID rules, etc. to ensure ongoing legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain the employee handbook and implement all HR policies.
  • Drafting job descriptions, researching salary ranges, and creatively building new pipelines for talent.

  • Implement recruiting process. Correspond with candidates; conduct phone screens, interviews, and background and reference checks; and verify employment status.
  • On board new employees: conduct orientation, collect and process new hire forms and documents, and review benefits and enrollment procedures.
  • Maintain personnel employment and performance records; ensure changes to employee records are properly authorized and approved.
  • Address employee questions and concerns; conduct employee meetings as needed/requested.
  • Handle sensitive HR matters, including leaves of absence, employee performance conversations, performance improvement plans, terminations, and separation agreements, when appropriate.

The Successful Applicant

  • Superb organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or similar field
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of HR Policies, compliance and legal
  • Can effectively demonstrate and advise on state and federal Human Resource compliance
  • Experience working with benefit vendors and negotiating benefits plans
  • Extraordinary communication and presentation skills in writing, on the phone, and in person.
  • A strong sense of professionalism and responsibility.
  • The drive and patience to roll up sleeves and ensure that the minutiae of a complex plan fit together perfectly.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Passion for education or museums a plus.
  • Comfort with and positive attitude toward mathematics a plus.
