Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Implement the policies and procedures that ensure the foundation's investment transactions are reported accurately on the foundation's financial statement and tax filings, enhancing and redesigning existing reporting frameworks to meet evolving needs


  • Work closely with various members of the Investment Team and Finance, and vendors to ensure the consistent production and availability of accurate investment data to inform timely decision-making


  • Assist in managing the work of the master custodian bank, including service levels, overseeing processes and controls over all aspects of the custody and administration of the foundation's investments


  • Maintain thorough understanding of all aspects of the Foundation's alternative investment funds to include commitments, cost basis, tax basis, market valuation methodology and treatment of fundings and distributions.


  • Ensure correct accounting and reporting of alternative fund activities, fundings, and distributions at Master Custodian.


  • Maintain a thorough understanding of investment accounting and custody activities for publicly traded equity, fixed income, and derivatives.


  • Help ensure all activities related to the movement of cash and securities, internal transfers, capital calls, subscription, and distribution activity are executed and recorded accurately


  • Work with the internal and external tax teams to assist in receiving, tracking, and analysis of tax filings from domestic and foreign investment funds, and assist in the preparation of annual tax reports.


  • Work with external auditors as it relates to investment accounting and the preparation of annual audited financial statements


  • Maintain a thorough understanding of accounting practices, regulations, and required disclosures; works with supervisor, peers and external accountant to monitor the impact of new accounting requirements


  • Collaborate with various teams across the Foundation to improve processes as well as identify and resolve complex problems that surface in analytics, data, and systems - including procedural weaknesses and data integrity issues


  • Coordination and settlement of equity and fixed income trades and collateral movements between portfolio manager, external broker, and Master Custodian

The Successful Applicant

QUALIFICATIONS



  • A minimum of 3 to 4 years' experience working in investment accounting


  • CPA or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or similar


  • Strong understanding of capital markets


  • Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws and reporting requirements


  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to details


  • Experience with General Ledger systems such as Workday


  • Ability to consistently meet tight deadlines including various daily, monthly and annual deliverables


  • Self-starter and able to work without constant direct supervision
