About Our Client

Join our dynamic team, a leading construction firm specializing in ground-up projects in the vibrant New York market. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to contribute to our continued success by providing accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of commercial construction projects.

Job Description

  1. Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for ground-up construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  2. Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the project scope and requirements.
  3. Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare bill of quantities (BOQ).
  4. Request and analyze quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
  5. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to clarify project details and resolve discrepancies.
  6. Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including scope clarifications, exclusions, and pricing summaries.
  7. Maintain and update a database of historical cost data for reference in future estimates.
  8. Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to gather project information and assess site conditions.
  9. Assist in the identification and analysis of project risks and opportunities.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned to support the estimating team.

The Successful Applicant

  1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  2. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in construction estimating, specifically with ground-up projects.
  3. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
  4. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor costs.
  5. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  6. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  7. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  8. Basic knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  9. Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
