About Our Client

A highly reputable non-profit with offices in NY and Washington DC is looking to appoint for immediate start, an In-House Legal Counsel with contract review/ negotiation experience including grant and service agreements. Competitive hourly rate for this fully remote role - between 15-30 hours work per week, initial contract runs from April-August 2025. Option to work from the New York or Washington DC office if you wish/ or fully remote within the US. Potential for contract extension. Candidates must be able to work EST time zone.

Job Description

As In-House Legal Counsel/ Contracts Review Attorney, you will work autonomously and as part of the wider business/ legal team. Varied responsibilities include:

  • Working on a variety of contracts and agreements - drafting, negotiating, reviewing and administration
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts/ agreements - service agreements and grant agreements, NDA's, license agreements etc.
  • Updating, reviewing and maintaining contract templates and library
  • Varied matters: contract work, labor/employment counsel, corporate governance, AI and Data Privacy
  • Reviewing internal policies and procedures
  • Must have experience in drafting contracts from start to finish
  • Reporting to the Head of Legal
  • Engaging and supervising outside counsel as external assistance is required

The Successful Applicant

Demonstrable skills and experience required for the In-House Counsel/ Contract Review Attorney role:

  • 8+ years experience in varied legal work (private practice, in-house or combined)
  • Must have experience in drafting and negotiating contracts - ideally varied legal counsel experience: contract work, labor/employment counsel, corporate governance, AI and Data Privacy matters
  • Law degree/ J.D. essential
  • Must have US State Bar in good standing (from any US State)
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively
  • Remote role, option to work from the organization's NYC or Washington DC offices if you wish - candidates must be able to work EST time zone
  • Non-profit legal experience beneficial but not essential
