The Logistics Director North America will work closely with the Vice President Supply Chain North America to develop the North America Supply Chain strategy. They will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the North America Supply Chain strategy as it relates to: Inbound freight from suppliers - both international and domestic; Transportation from manufacturing locations to Finished Goods warehouses; Network Design and Warehousing strategy, including use of bonded warehouses; Investment and improvement to Supply Chain processes, technologies, and organization to execute against Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost targets.

Execution of the Supply Chain strategy will require the Logistics Director North America to own the regional distribution and warehousing performance in coordination with regional stakeholders. S/he should actively manage the Logistics organization to foresee potential issues, coordinate with carriers, 3PLs, and customs brokers, and report and communicate on a recurring basis on logistics network performance. The Logistics Director will own the cost budget to warehouse and distribute produced and required volumes, and will be responsible for monthly reporting and tracking versus financial targets associated with business revenues, transportation and warehousing costs, and working capital management.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Own the strategy development and execution for inbound Logistics and Warehousing of materials and Finished Goods for our North America Business Unit. This includes managing:
    • Inbound freight from suppliers across all major transportation modes - Global Ocean, Rail, Over-The-Road (FTL, PL, and LTL), Intermodal, and Air
    • Transportation from manufacturing locations to Finished Goods warehouses
    • Raw materials and Finished Goods warehouses across the North America business
    • Bonded warehouse locations and ensuring compliance with all U.S. customs laws and regulations.
  • Develop Warehousing and Distribution strategy along with Vice President Supply Chain North America, North America Sales Organization, and North America Customer Service organization, to meet Customer and Internal service and cost targets
  • Responsible for designing, developing, and managing the North America Logistics Organization to execute and run all inbound transportation, warehousing, and importation activities
  • Own execution on daily basis of transportation and tracking of global and regional shipments
  • Responsible for execution of importation of bonded goods per Trading and Supply Plans
  • Track and report carrier and 3PL performance versus targets to Vice President Supply Chain North America on recurring basis, with emphasis on compliance to Worker Safety and Food Safety, Quality and Food Defense, Service, and Cost metrics
  • Oversee and manage establishment of proper communication and coordination between carriers, 3PLs, Customs Brokers, and the company's Customer Service and Sales organizations
  • Develop annual Logistics budget with Vice President Supply Chain North America, Global Director Logistics, North America Sales, and North America Finance, and own the execution against annual Logistics budget for the North America business.
  • Own and oversee all logistics-related financial period close activities, including, but not limited to, cost accruals and cost variance reporting
  • Instill continuous improvement mindset within the extended organization - within direct reports, adjacent supply chain teams, adjacent functions, and with external supply partners (suppliers, manufacturers, and logistics partners)

The Successful Applicant

  • BA/BS in Business or related field. Emphasis on Supply Chain / Operations preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years in Supply Chain or Logistics roles, with 5-7 years management supervisory experience
  • Experience in the CPG / FMCG space required. Experience with bonded importation and exportation with United States Customs preferred
  • Strong systems skills including experience with SAP and Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong ownership and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
