About Our Client

This non-profit arts institution, located in the vibrant cultural hub of New York City, is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Labor Relations Specialist to join their team. This organization is world renowned. This person will work closely with Labor Relations professionals with 20+ years of knowledge in the field.

Job Description



  1. Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on labor laws and regulations relevant to the arts industry and our organization's unionized workforce. Provide insights and recommendations to inform labor relations strategies and practices.


  2. Collective Bargaining Support: Assist in the negotiation process of collective bargaining agreements with union representatives. Participate in meetings, provide data analysis, and contribute to the development of contract proposals.


  3. Grievance Handling: Serve as a point of contact for employee grievances, investigating issues, and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to resolve conflicts in a timely and fair manner.


  4. Employee Relations: Act as a labor relations representative in conducting investigations related to employee misconduct, discrimination, or other workplace issues. Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on labor relations matters.


  5. Communication and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of labor relations activities, including collective bargaining sessions, grievance resolutions, and employee investigations. Prepare reports, correspondence, and other written materials as needed.


  6. Mentorship and Professional Development: Take advantage of the opportunity to learn from seasoned experts in the labor relations field. Engage in ongoing mentorship and training to enhance skills and knowledge in labor relations practices.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification in Labor Relations preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in labor relations, preferably in a unionized environment, with demonstrated knowledge of labor laws and collective bargaining processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret and apply labor laws and regulations effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with HRIS systems for data management and analysis.
