Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer will:

  • Design and engineer automated machinery, contributing to both new concepts and improvements to existing systems.
  • Produce detailed machine drawings, including 3D models, assembly layouts, and component-level documentation.
  • Lead projects from initial quotation through final factory testing, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to confirm that all parts are accurately fabricated, machined, and assembled.
  • Work with the assembly team to test equipment, troubleshoot issues, and verify proper machine functionality.
  • Coordinate with departments such as controls, purchasing, and parts to maintain workflow and meet customer delivery schedules.
  • Update and revise mechanical specifications and drawings as needed throughout the build process.
  • Create, manage, and maintain comprehensive Bills of Materials for all assigned projects.

The Successful Applicant

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or a comparable technical field.
  • At least three years of experience designing automated or industrial machinery.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and/or SolidWorks.
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing methods, machining processes, and fabrication practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to generate creative mechanical design solutions.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A hands‑on mindset with comfort working directly on mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across multiple teams and departments.
