Job Description

The responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer lll include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the advancement of next-generation medical device product lines.
  • Oversee CAD design, construction, and testing of new concepts, guiding the iterative design process.
  • Provide guidance to technicians, external industrial design teams, and OEM manufacturers to ensure project alignment.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineering to implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) techniques for efficient assembly and testing using automation.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis (including tolerance, dFMEA, DOE, statistical) to ensure products meet design specifications.
  • Manage injection mold suppliers through the tool development process to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Create and release detailed drawings and documentation in compliance with applicable standards and SOPs.
  • Assist in Verification and Validation (V&V) testing through protocol development, report generation, fixture creation, and TMV execution.
  • Maintain Design History Files (DHF) by documenting design reviews, reports, and meeting minutes.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Mechanical Engineer lll will:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development as a mechanical design engineer, specifically working with complex Class II or III disposable and/or electromechanical medical equipment.
  • Proficient in Solidworks 3D modeling and design, with a desired focus on 3D surfacing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing injection molded disposables and utilizing various plastic joining techniques such as ultrasonic, RF, laser welding, and adhesive/solvent bonding.
  • Preferably experienced in designing electromechanical sub-systems, including components manufactured from machined/sheet metal and motorized assemblies.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, with the ability to conduct engineering analysis including tolerance analysis, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and application of engineering first principles.
