Job Description

  1. Sales Strategy Development: Developing and implementing sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and maximize profitability amongst all Key National Account partners.

  2. Key Account Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key retail accounts at a national level. This involves understanding the customer's business needs, negotiating terms and agreements, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  3. Market Analysis: Conducting market research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth and to stay abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences.

  4. Forecasting and Planning: Collaborating with internal teams such as marketing, supply chain, and finance to develop accurate sales forecasts and strategic plans to meet sales targets.

  5. Promotional Planning: Developing and executing promotional plans and trade marketing activities to drive product visibility, increase sales, and enhance brand awareness.

  6. Contract Negotiation: Negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms with retail customers to secure profitable agreements that align with company objectives.

  7. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with internal cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, operations, and supply chain, to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.

  8. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Tracking sales performance against targets, analyzing sales data, and preparing regular reports for management review. Identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.

  9. Customer Service and Support: Providing excellent customer service and support to address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure a positive customer experience.

  10. Product Knowledge: Maintaining a deep understanding of the company's products, features, benefits, and competitive advantages to effectively communicate value propositions to customers.

  11. Travel: National Account Managers often travel to visit key retail customers, attend industry events, and participate in sales meetings and conferences.

  12. Leadership and Team Management: In some cases, NAMs may be responsible for leading and managing a team of sales professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to achieve collective goals.

The Successful Applicant

  • 5-10 years of sales experience, preferably with a Consumer-Packaged Goods organization
  • MUST HAVE*** Experience calling on National HQ
  • Several years of experience in sales, account management, or related roles within the CPG industry, with a proven track record of success
  • Private Brand experience is preferred
  • Analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
