The Operations Manager should have a solid background in managing production processes, driving operational improvements, and leading teams. As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless daily operations while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Our client is a leading manufacturer of metal components for a variety of industries, including aerospace & defense. They are a very reputable organization and are placing a lot of emphasis on the growth and development of their site in the southwest Chicago suburbs

Job Description

  • Oversee the daily operations of the manufacturing facility, including production, quality control, maintenance, and shipping
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement
  • Conduct regular safety audits and provide training to maintain a safe working environment
  • Monitor expenses and implement cost-control measures to stay within budget
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to boost productivity, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors and production staff
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures
  • Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure timely availability of materials and components
  • Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, including production metrics, quality issues, and cost analysis
  • Work with the customer service team to address any production-related issues or concerns and ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma) are a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management within a manufacturing setting. Experience working in metals industries is a plus
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP systems
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety regulations
  • Familiarity with inventory management and production planning
