The organization operates with advanced in‑house IR manufacturing capabilities-including diamond turning, precision machining, coatings, and high‑accuracy optical assembly.Job DescriptionResponsibilities:Lead design of optical assemblies from concept to production release.Convert optical prescriptions into robust, manufacturable mechanical designs.Define mounting, alignment, and retention strategies for extreme temperature, shock, and vibration environments.Develop detailed CAD assemblies and drawings using Creo Parametric, following GD&T and internal standards.Collaborate closely with optical, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to meet DFM/DFA requirements.Oversee multi-lens assembly processes using both passive and active alignment methods.Support materials, coatings, adhesives, and process optimization for IR assemblies.Lead environmental qualification efforts including thermal cycling, shock/vibration, sealing, and contamination control.Perform and review tolerance analyses to ensure optical performance.Establish design best practices, review processes, and documentation standards.Train, mentor, and develop engineering team members.Support configuration control and compliance with relevant standards.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
