Optical Engineering Manager - Orlando, FL (Open to Relo)

Responsibilities:

• Lead design of optical assemblies from concept to production release.
• Convert optical prescriptions into robust, manufacturable mechanical designs.
• Define mounting, alignment, and retention strategies for extreme temperature, shock, and vibration environments.
• Develop detailed CAD assemblies and drawings using Creo Parametric, following GD&T and internal standards.
• Collaborate closely with optical, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to meet DFM/DFA requirements.
• Oversee multi-lens assembly processes using both passive and active alignment methods.
• Support materials, coatings, adhesives, and process optimization for IR assemblies.
• Lead environmental qualification efforts including thermal cycling, shock/vibration, sealing, and contamination control.
• Perform and review tolerance analyses to ensure optical performance.
• Establish design best practices, review processes, and documentation standards.
• Train, mentor, and develop engineering team members.
• Support configuration control and compliance with relevant standards.
