Job Description

Project Planning & Coordination:

  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of engineering projects.

Technical Oversight:

  • Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, from design through to execution and final handover.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of project progress, including reports, schedules, budgets, and resources. Present updates to senior management and stakeholders. In addition, write or lend technical assistance in writing work Instructions, machine operation Instructions or training material.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks, create mitigation plans, and resolve technical issues to ensure project objectives are met.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all engineering activities adhere to applicable standards and codes. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and quality. Have or gain understanding, experience or knowledge concerning the food industry, specifically SQF.

Vendor & Contractor Management:

  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials, services, and project milestones.

Compliance:

  • Ensure that all projects comply with State, local and national laws and regulations concerning, worker safety standards (OSHA), food safety (FDA, SQF), environmental standards (Mass DEP and EPA), Mass Plumbing code, Mass Electrical code, (UL) and all other applicable standards and regulations.

Project Management:

  • Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Develop project scopes, objectives, and schedules, coordinating with various stakeholders to align on project goals.

Plant Operations:

  • Monitor and analyze plant operations to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, safety, and product quality.
  • Collaborate with production teams to optimize workflows and minimize downtime.

Process Improvement:

  • Implement process improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for operational issues and develop corrective action plans.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all engineering practices comply with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to maintain a safe working environment.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support for production equipment and processes, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies that can enhance plant operations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate documentation of engineering processes, project progress, and compliance metrics.
  • Prepare regular reports for management on project status, operational performance, and improvement initiatives

The Successful Applicant

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related field).
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering roles within the food industry or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Microsoft Project or other project management tools). As well as engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a collaborative environment.
  • Proven experience in project engineering or project management.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, project management techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal), and leadership skills, with the ability to work in a team and coordinate with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
