Job Description

  • Estimating: Lead and manage the estimating process for multifamily construction projects, ensuring accurate and competitive bids.
  • Project Planning: Develop comprehensive preconstruction plans, including schedules, budgets, and logistics plans.
  • Client Coordination: Work closely with clients to understand their needs and expectations, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns.
  • Design Coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other design professionals to ensure project plans are feasible and cost-effective.
  • Subcontractor Management: Identify, solicit, and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring the best value for the project.
  • Value Engineering: Analyze project plans and specifications to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
  • Risk Management: Assess potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them during the preconstruction phase.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed cost estimates, bid proposals, and other documentation required for project approval.
  • Market Analysis: Stay current with market trends, material costs, and construction methods to provide accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor junior estimators and other preconstruction staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction with a focus on multifamily estimating.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications and training are a plus.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost estimation techniques specific to multifamily projects.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Proficient in estimating software and tools.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) are advantageous.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively under tight deadlines.
