Job Description

In this role you will:

  • Lead engineering design effortsfor the company's systems
  • Develop and optimize equipment design packages, emphasizing skidded equipment
  • Design process piping, equipment layouts, and mechanical interconnections within modular frames
  • Support equipment specifications, vendor documentation, and bill of materials
  • Design structural skid frames, including beam sizing, bracing, and lift point calculations
  • Perform structural analysis (hand calculations or FEA) to meet transportation and lifting requirements
  • Produce detailed GA and fabrication drawings for skid packages
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes (AISC, ASME B31.3, AWS D1.1)
  • Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing and monitor progress at manufacturing partner facilities
  • Support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and ensure proper assembly, alignment, and integration at customer sites
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and training to internal teams and partners
  • Collaborate with external engineering partners and vendors to meet design, budget, and timeline goals

The Successful Applicant

A successful Principal Mechanical Engineer should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8-10+ years of experience leading mechanical and structural design for skid-mounted process systems
  • Expertise in modular process packages and large-scale industrial equipment (oil & gas, chemical processing, membranes/separation)
  • Proficiency in 3D piping and structural CAD tools (Autodesk Plant3D, SolidWorks Routing, Inventor)
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel design and welding standards
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and API standards preferred
  • Experience with engineering document management a plus
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in sustainability
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
