Our client in the food and beverage industry is currently seeking a talented and experienced Procurement Manager specializing in logistics. As a Procurement Manager, you will take on a pivotal role in driving cost savings and operational efficiency by leading strategic sourcing initiatives for transportation, warehousing, and distribution services. Your strategic thinking and expertise will contribute to optimizing the supply chain operations and strengthening our client's competitive advantage in the market.

Job Description

  • Strategic Sourcing Leadership: Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives for logistics services, specifically transportation, warehousing, and distribution. Focus on achieving cost savings, enhancing quality, and managing supplier relationships effectively.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and monitor industry trends and innovations. Utilize findings to continuously improve logistics sourcing strategies.
  • Supplier Evaluation and Selection: Develop robust evaluation criteria and methodologies to assess potential logistics service providers. Conduct supplier due diligence, negotiate contracts, and select suppliers that align with the client's goals and objectives.
  • Contract Negotiation: Utilize your exceptional negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers. Ensure contracts deliver value, mitigate risk, and meet performance expectations while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and nurture strong relationships with key logistics service providers. Manage ongoing supplier performance, conduct performance reviews, and identify opportunities for collaboration and improvement.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify cost reduction opportunities by analyzing transportation networks, exploring consolidation strategies, implementing process improvements, and incorporating innovative logistics solutions. Maintain service levels and customer satisfaction throughout the optimization process.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, operations, finance, and quality assurance. Ensure sourcing strategies align with the client's business objectives and facilitate effective implementation of initiatives.
  • Performance Tracking and Reporting: Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and analyze sourcing metrics. Provide regular reports to management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within the food and beverage industry.
  • Strong expertise in logistics sourcing, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution services.
  • In-depth knowledge of logistics market trends, best practices, and emerging technologies within the food and beverage space.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives, driving cost savings, and optimizing supplier relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation, contract management, and supplier evaluation skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and utilization of sourcing tools and technologies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within tight timelines.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving.

What's on Offer

My client offers market competitive compensation and benefits. Target compensation for the Procurement Manager - Logistics is $110,000 - $125,000 + 15% bonus. Compensation is commensurate with candidate experience.
