About Our Client

Our client for the Product Engineer opportunity is a global automotive supplier for innovative interior and electrical applications. This global organization has manufacturing facilities worldwide, along with a highly creative engineering team to help design and create custom products for highly unique applications. The global company is over $2 billion in revenue and the automotive division is experiencing rapid growth. Their programs can be found in the new Cadillac Escalade and Grand Wagoneer and many others, as they are working with every major OEM.

The Product Engineer will work with OEM customers directly as the face of the company to manage the design, development and launch phases. This person will be the point person in charge of all customer interfacing regarding technical specifications, timelines and will work closely with the internal sales and design engineering teams in the US and Globally.

Job Description

  • Work with customer engineering teams for product design and release for new and current projects
  • Work cross functionally with sales, engineering, product development and management to translate customer needs and specifications
  • Create bill of materials (BOM)
  • Work with customer and internal product development teams on design requirements
  • Develop DFMEA - design failure mode and effect analysis
  • Work with customers and manufacturing plant on GD&T development
  • Procure samples for test setups, performance testing or customer builds.
  • Support project team implementation plans, timing activities and communication meetings.
  • Perform competitive analysis, benchmarking of technology and, cost estimation.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Mechanical or Electrical preferred
  • 5 plus years of engineering experience within automotive as a product engineer, program engineer, application engineer, resident engineer, design engineer or similar
  • Experience with complex systems and assembly - injection molding, stamping, wiring, etc.
  • FMEA, GD&T, CATIA
  • Ability to understand and identify key market trends, with strategic market development experience
  • Exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of managing timelines and long/short term assignments

What's on Offer
