Job Description

Reporting directly into the CTO, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate with surgeons to obtain their feedback on company's spinal implant designs.
  • Improve implant and instrument design and usability.
  • Participate in labs and operating room observations to optimize ergonomics, usability, and workflow.
  • Create CAD models incorporating biomechanics and design-for-manufacturing principles.
  • Manage timelines, risks, and cross-functional communication across engineering, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing.
  • Support design verification and validation activities, including mechanical testing, FEA, and usability assessments.
  • Maintain design documentation such as DHF, specifications, drawings, and risk files.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Spinal Implant Instruments Development Engineer should have:

  • 3+ years of experience designing and developing spinal implants.
  • Direct experience designing and developing spinal implants.
  • Experience with 3D printing and design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for design and modeling purposes.
  • Experience partnering with surgeons and working/observing in cadaver labs.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials used in spinal instruments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
