Job Description

The purpose of this job is to prepare safety and regulatory documents (such as Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Regulatory Data Summaries (RDS), and regulatory certificates) and manage worldwide product database to address regulatory / HSE related enquiries, to support product safety assessment, and contribute to the implementation of Product Stewardship process compliances regarding worldwide regulations.

  • Review / validate product composition and physical-chemical properties. Input compositional / physical-chemical data into SAP for creating / revising EHS-SDS.
  • Review GHS classifications, safety phrases, transport classifications (dangerous goods) and manufacturing sites before the publication of SDS. Help sites to complete GLM labels.
  • Validate and input chemical inventory status in the EHS database for SDS creation / revision.
  • Define SDS content for commercial products and R&I products, by using standardized approaches and according to guidelines.
  • Maintain SDS data consistent with data of COA and PDS. Ensure consistent data within product families / chemical families in collaboration with product stewards, toxicologists, R&I, QC and production teams.
  • Review and determine transport classifications for dangerous goods for road, rail, sea and air modes of transport.
  • Prepare, Review and Validate Regulatory Data Summaries (RDS) and Regulatory certificates in SAP EHS, working closely with Global Product Stewards.
  • Support salesforce process, for answering customer regulatory questions, providing timely responses to customer inquiries according to account category.
  • Manage SAP EHS data relating to trade compliance, and export controls.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor degree or Masters degree in Chemistry, a Life science or Engineering area.
  • Knowledge of organic synthesis and chemical analysis is an advantage.
  • 0-5 years experience in the chemical (or closely related) industry.
  • Prior experience in writing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) including GHS hazard classification and transport classification would be an advantage
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • For the position in China: Mandarin (proficient - written and verbal)
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge in SAP environment in particular in SAP EH&S is a plus
  • Knowledge on SDS requirements and regulation is a plus
