About Our Client

The client is a global, leading manufacturer in the automotive industry supplying top customers such as Nissan, Honda, and Toyota. They are looking for an engineer with 1-3 years experience looking to develop their skills and enter a hands on role in the automotive space.

Job Description

  • Oversee a variety of automated processes and equipment, such as Welding (Spot, MIG / TIG, Vibration, Laser, Ultrasonic, and Plasma) and Stamping (Transfer, Blanking, and Progression)
  • Prepare design (hand and CAD) sketches and blueprints of machinery, fixtures, and layouts
  • Calculate and analyze lead, takt, and cycle times to optimize plant production
  • Analyze layouts of equipment, workflow, and assembly needs to devise methods to maximize efficiency
  • Program, monitor, and modify Programmable Logic Controllers to meet safety standards and production goals
  • Demonstrated Team Player with good communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Process equipment evaluation, specifications, procurement, and implementation
  • Coordinate with production personnel, vendors, and external contractors to implement process improvements (Kaizens)
  • Structured problem solving experience (e.g. - 5 Why's, 8D)
  • Complete supporting documentation, such as poka-yoke, changeover procedures, and welding conditions to comply with TS requirements
  • Work with robotic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HMI systems to meet safety standards and customer requirements

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 0-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to metal fabrication or welding is a plus
  • Understanding of basic lean/six sigma principles
  • Problem solving ability
  • Self-starter with desire to learn new skills and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
