About Our Client

My client headquartered in Elgin is a manufacturer of electronic display products for customers across a variety of industries, including automotive, medical device, and industrial equipment. This is a smaller company offering the culture and feel of a family firm, but with the track record and customer base of a much larger organization. They have shown impressive growth the last 20 years, and seek a Production Engineer to help optimize facility production processes.

Job Description

Read and understand product drawings/schematics from other engineers.
Lead problem solving efforts to resolve production problems.

Work cross-functionally with quality and engineering teams to drive process improvements.
Develop proper manufacturing, testing, and quality control standard work.
Conduct in process checks on the production line to ensure standard work is followed and work-in-process, finished products, and packing meet established quality requirements.
Testing of electrical fixtures. Conduct final inspection on finished products and record test data.
Develop and improve monthly reports to quantify Production improvement and highlight areas requiring additional attention.

Determine the process capabilities and outgoing quality levels of all major products.
Identify process improvement and optimization opportunities.
Assist in the development of process planning, training programs, and policies.

The Successful Applicant

BS in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Two or more years of process or production management or relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, techniques, and philosophies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, capable of completing tasks with limited supervision.
Working knowledge of soldering applications and techniques.
Ability to read electronic schematics and have good working knowledge of electronics theory is a plus.
Experience with LCD, VFD, OLED or TFT display technologies is a plus.
Desire and ability to work in a dynamic environment, developing flexible solutions based on business needs
Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
