Job Description

The responsibilities for the Project Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing capital projects from design and planning through execution, commissioning, and turnover
  • Overseeing initiatives focused on capacity expansion, efficiency, cost reduction, and improvements in safety, compliance, quality, and reliability
  • Handling multiple projects with shared resources and budgets ranging from $1MM to $5MM+
  • Promoting safety awareness and expectations among internal teams and external partners
  • Providing technical support for operational troubleshooting and assisting with new product and process development
  • Supporting technical safety efforts based on shifting priorities
  • Coordinating team activities to meet project execution, completion, and turnover goals
  • Creating and updating standard operating procedures, including developing process control algorithms
  • Participating in operator training as needed to support successful implementation

The Successful Applicant

A successful Project Engineer should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical) or a related field
  • 2-5 years of project management experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Prior experience in chemical processing (required)
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid flow, pumping, piping, and instrumentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver formal presentations to senior management
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to build rapport across operations, maintenance, utilities, and analytical teams
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering disciplines, as well as environmental and regulatory standards
  • Familiarity with engineering standards such as ASME, API, and UL (preferred)
  • Comfort working with industrial distributed control systems (DCS) and human-machine interfaces (HMI)
