Job Description

The Project Engineer - Utilities/Site Work - Lusby, MD will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of utility and site‑work projects, ensuring work aligns with project specifications, schedules, and safety standards.
  • Supporting project managers and superintendents with daily engineering tasks, including quantity tracking, subcontractor coordination, and field documentation.
  • Reviewing drawings, plans, and technical specifications to identify discrepancies and support constructability solutions.
  • Monitoring progress in the field, performing site visits, and ensuring quality control across all phases of utility and site‑work construction.
  • Preparing and maintaining project logs, RFIs, submittals, as‑built documentation, and other project records.
  • Coordinating material procurement, tracking delivery schedules, and verifying quantities used in the field.
  • Assisting with project budgeting, cost tracking, and forecasting to help maintain financial accountability.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal standards.
  • Acting as a liaison between the field and office teams to support effective communication and project delivery.

The Successful Applicant

The Project Engineer - Utilities/Site Work - Lusby, MD will have:

  • Solid understanding of project sequencing, field operations, and the workflow involved in underground utilities and site development.

  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and field teams.
  • The ability to identify potential field issues early and assist in developing practical, solutions‑oriented recommendations.
  • Proficiency with construction software tools, daily reporting systems, and basic project management platforms.
