Job Description

  • Lead execution of transmission line and substation projects (115kV-500kV) from initiation through commissioning and closeout
  • Manage project budgets ($10M-$100M+), schedules, resource planning, and financial forecasting
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients and utility stakeholders, ensuring strong relationships and delivery excellence
  • Oversee coordination across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams
  • Drive cost control, earned value tracking, and change management processes
  • Lead risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue resolution across all project phases
  • Oversee procurement and material management for long-lead equipment (transformers, breakers, steel, relay/control systems)
  • Monitor construction progress, contractor performance, and field execution through site visits and reporting
  • Coordinate outage planning, switching, and energization activities with operations and field teams
  • Ensure compliance with utility standards, NESC, NEC, and applicable regulatory requirements (including NERC where applicable)
  • Lead project reporting, stakeholder updates, and executive-level communication
  • Mentor and support Project Engineers and Project Manager I staff
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and execution strategies

The Successful Applicant

A successful Project Manager II - Transmission & Distribution should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 7-12+ years of experience in Transmission & Distribution or utility-scale infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience managing high-voltage (HV/EHV) projects up to 500kV
  • Strong background in project financials, cost control, and forecasting
  • Experience with Primavera P6, cost tracking systems, and reporting tools
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage client relationships
