Job Description


  • This position will require the successful candidate to wear many "hats" - multi-tasking is a must, working on several projects at the same time, projects at different stages
  • Lead estimating efforts for self-performed concrete projects. Define scope, lead take-off and subcontractor outreach. Prepare bid forms and scope documents as required
  • Perform Project Manager role as required on active concrete projects, while maintaining focus on estimating and preconstruction of new projects
  • Lead pre-construction activities for awarded concrete projects
  • Act as liaison with the client/General Contractor, structural engineer, and consultants Interface with site supervisors; look for and implement innovative construction methods, formwork strategies, logistics plans, and production targets
  • Manage cost changes, track legitimate change orders requests, compile fair pricing for work and forecast financial results accurately
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules with continuous input from concrete superintendent
  • Prepare project documents- client change orders, subcontracts, subcontractor change orders, notices, etc
  • Generate historical production feedback and work with Construction Manager to implement on every estimate
  • Support Construction Manager in forecasting field capacity and staffing, group financials, estimating capacity, and liaison to the General Contracting side of Plant to grow our group successfully
  • Control, monitor, and record historical data on labor, formwork, and other trackable elements of the concrete work
  • Control and monitor subcontractors and monitor their performance
  • Monitor submittal schedule in accordance with project requirements, monitor critical material items and deliveries
  • Maintain quality control and production efficiency
  • Oversee that jobsite safety is the paramount and non-negotiable

The Successful Applicant


  • Bachelor college degree, in Construction Management, Civil Engineering is required
  • Excellent English language verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills. Spanish language proficiency is a bonus.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years construction-related experience is required overseeing concrete estimates and running projects valuing $500K to $10M (self-performed concrete value)
  • Project types include some of the following: ground up concrete frames, foundation work, seismic retrofits, civil concrete work, sitework (not flatwork or decorative concrete)
  • Working knowledge and experience with the following software and programs is required:
  • MS Project or Primavera 6 for project scheduling (or similar, SmartSheet, etc)
  • Procore for Construction Management (or similar)
  • MS Office proficiency
  • On-Screen Takeoff - estimating and takeoff solutions for contractors
  • Sage/Timberline/Precision (or similar - WinEst, etc) - estimating software Microsoft 365 - Outlook (email) and cloud-based suite of productivity application like MS Teams
  • Bluebeam - for PDF markup and collaboration tool, as well as a great tool for overlaying and comparing versions of drawings
  • Working knowledge and experience with the following software and programs is not essential, but is a good skill to have for this position:
  • AutoCAD / Revit for project planning, estimating support, and detailing
