This position serves as the frontline communication with our vendors. Responsibilities include sourcing of materials - polypropylene (pp), polyethylene (pe), polyolefins - monitoring supplier approval and performance, monitoring inventory levels, issuing purchase orders from ERP system, and negotiating material and freight costs.

Job Description

  • Collaborate with the businesses and functional leadership to develop procurement strategies for key chemicals purchased, bringing both global and regional functional expertise as well as deep market and industry knowledge
  • Take responsibility for achieving and reporting (monthly, quarterly, annually) savings, correlation of price and total cost of ownership to established commodities. i
  • Develop and maintain a dynamic and robust listing of qualified suppliers for chemicals (including initial supplier quality assessment and ongoing supplier quality monitoring) ensuring competitive options exist for the business across all commodity categories, and work to improve supply chain robustness and other metrics such as on-time and in-full performance
  • Negotiate and secure, single and multi-year chemical supply agreements, as appropriate
  • Provide detailed category management plans
  • Willingness to travel nationally and globally - 20-30%

The Successful Applicant

  • B. S. in a technical discipline, Chemical engineering, project management, or technical fields
  • 8-10 years of related experience in purchasing department.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement of chemicals (polypropylene (pp), polyethylene (pe), polyolefins) and related materials
  • Strong relationships with major USA producers.
  • Deep knowledge of the polymer market is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills required - both written & verbal.
  • Ability to work autonomously
