About Our Client

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our dynamic team at a leading manufacturing company based in Kildeer, IL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for procuring raw materials, equipment, and supplies, ensuring that the manufacturing process runs smoothly and efficiently. This role will play a key part in managing supplier relationships, optimizing inventory levels, and maintaining cost control while supporting operational excellence.

Job Description

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, purchasing, and inventory management for raw materials, components, and supplies.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including production, engineering, and quality control, to understand material needs and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of materials.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and cost savings for the company.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order materials in a timely manner to avoid stockouts or production delays.
  • Track and manage purchase orders and ensure accurate and on-time deliveries.
  • Assist in developing and executing procurement strategies that align with company goals.
  • Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Coordinate with the finance team to ensure accurate payment processing for suppliers and resolve any invoice discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Provide regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance metrics to management.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, inventory management, and supplier negotiation.
  • Proficient in using purchasing software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing materials and components is a plus.
