Job Description



  • Gain comprehensive, hands-on understanding of product requirements and internal manufacturing operations.


  • Support R&D and Sales by reviewing customer specifications, relevant standards, and associated technical requirements.


  • Convert detailed customer, regulatory, or military specifications into actionable instructions for production.


  • Work closely with Sales and customers to clarify and resolve any unclear or conflicting specifications.


  • Serve as a point of contact with customers and suppliers regarding quality concerns, including during audits and site visits.


  • Analyze differences between internal measurements and customer data, identifying trends or discrepancies.


  • Investigate internal rejects and returned products, determine root cause, and collaborate with departments to implement preventive measures.


  • Provide quality and process support to the Mexico Team, including supplier/customer communication and handling returns.


  • Coordinate with global SCHOTT sites, both suppliers and customers, to ensure quality alignment.


  • Review and optimize processes alongside the Metrology Engineer, implementing appropriate data collection for product and process control.


  • Create, maintain, and improve quality processes, procedures, and documentation.


  • Develop and update key documentation such as control plans, process flows, PFMEAs, routing sheets, and inspection plans.

The Successful Applicant



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.


  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing setting, optics experience preferred.


  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.


  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and practical evaluation.


  • Practical experience using both manual measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.) and electronic/optical measurement tools (vision systems, microscopes, comparators).


  • Experienced in conducting product and process audits.


  • Knowledgeable in maintaining and adhering to ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or AS9100 Quality Management Systems.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a disciplined approach.


  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and other computer applications.


  • Fluent in English, with strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.


  • Self-driven, results-focused, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.


  • Hands-on, practical approach with a mindset for integration across teams.


  • Innovative thinker with a willingness to challenge conventional methods.


  • Must meet US Person status due to the facility's work requirements.
