Job Description

The Renewable Energy - Vice President, Procurement - Houston will be responsible for

  • Developing and implementing short- and long-term sourcing strategies that ensure timely delivery of equipment and services needed to advance the Company's multi-gigawatt pipeline and achieve optimal performance
  • Oversee forward technology and cost roadmaps, integrating analysis of market and regulatory factors, and contributing to the achievement of US domestic content and ESG goals.
  • Lead and strategize bidding and contracting efforts for Owner Furnished Equipment (OFE), prime construction and balance of plant (EPC) services, soliciting key stakeholder feedback across relevant functions.
  • Centralize and manage the procurement of services/parts for operating wind, solar, and BESS power plants, with an eye towards optimization.
  • Responsible for long-term service agreement strategies, Inventory Management, O&M parts and services, fleet vehicle management, and aspects of the overall process.
  • Furhter build out a world class procurement team by developing, mentoring, and hiring as needed with the goal of strengthening team cohesion, creating leadership opportunities, and increasing the capacity of the function.
  • Ensure, through oversight and management of the portfolio of agreements, that projects meet objectives related to safety, cost, delivery performance, schedule, and quality.
  • Own the Company's Supply Chain policy and key process and control aspects of the procure to pay processes, being the key process owner over vendor contracts, creating and issuing purchase orders, Company vendor requirements, and vendor obligation compliance.
  • Ensure that risks are mitigated through alignment across major project agreements (EPC agreement, Owner Furnished Equipment Supply agreements, Power Purchase Agreement, Services agreement, Warranty, etc.).
  • Development and implementation of best practices around contracting strategies and processes for tendering Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and negotiating contracts that result in the best value possible.
  • Design and Implement Inventory Management best practices while incorporating a long-term strategic view on reducing equipment down time due to stock outs or improper inventory.
  • Oversee SRM, working to build long-term relationships with key suppliers while leveraging economies of scale.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated expertise in selecting, evaluating, and contracting equipment for utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects.
  • Be able to develop and implement sourcing strategies that ensure timely delivery of quality owner-furnished equipment to projects, provide technical and procurement expertise to the development business units, and manage procurement processes from vendor selection through construction and into operations.

Someone with:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate procurement of services for a large organization (preference on Renewable IPP) - required.
  • 5+ years of solar, wind, and/or storage contracting, EPC, OFE procurement, or other related experience - required.
  • 5+ years of leading the review, negotiation and management of corporate Master Service Agreements - required.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a large team of direct and indirect reports - required.
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience; MBA preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of the competitive bid process for operations and services and negotiation techniques.
  • Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written and an honest open communication style.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Project, Word, and proven ability to learn new software programs.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to work well in a matrix work environment with little supervision.
