Job Description

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Financial Controller will support month‑end accuracy, strengthen controls, and guide accounting operations across the business.

  • Prepare and consolidate monthly financial statements and internal reporting.
  • Support general ledger activities, including month‑end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Reconcile bank statements and escalate discrepancies appropriately.
  • Prepare journal entries including cash receipts, inter‑company activity, and payroll.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to ensure accuracy and timely execution.
  • Support all audit processes including year‑end, governmental, state, and insurance audits.
  • Maintain and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, and process improvements.
  • Provide leadership, training, and communication to accounting team members.
  • Participate in ERP conversion/implementation and testing.
  • Support management with special projects and ad‑hoc reporting.

The Successful Applicant

For the Assistant Financial Controller we are seeking:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in an Accounting Manager-level role or equivalent.
  • Strong background in financial statement preparation and general ledger management.
  • Experience with month‑end close processes.
  • Background in the construction industry (general contractor or subcontractor) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management capabilities.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience with CMiC highly preferred.
  • Ability to manage repetitive tasks, long periods of sitting/standing, and occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
