This Senior Grant Accountant will oversee all financial and compliance aspects of the organization's grant portfolio, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and adherence to federal, state, and private funding requirements. This role partners with program and finance teams to manage budgets, reporting, and audits, supporting effective stewardship of grant resources.

Job Description





  • Monitor and reconcile grant accounts to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.


  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual grant financial reports, invoices, and reimbursement requests.


  • Collaborate with program staff to track spending, forecast future needs, and prepare budget modifications.
  • Support the annual audit process, including the Single Audit, by providing schedules, documentation, and explanations as needed.


  • Assist with proposal and renewal budgets in partnership with the Development and Program teams.


  • Maintain detailed records of all grant transactions, ensuring transparency and audit readiness.


  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting procedures and improve internal controls related to grant management.

The Successful Applicant



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.


  • Minimum 5-7 years of professional accounting experience, including 3+ years of direct grant or fund accounting (nonprofit or government experience preferred).


  • Solid understanding of GAAP, federal grant regulations, and Uniform Guidance.


  • Experience preparing financial reports for federal, state, city, and private funders.


  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP or grant management systems (e.g., Intacct, NetSuite, Oracle, Workday).


  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.


  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with both financial and non-financial staff.
