Description

Reporting to the SVP of Legal, the Senior Legal Counsel will:

  • Provide pragmatic advice and solutions to internal clients on a wide range of real estate matters
  • Draft and review a wide range of commercial and residential real estate agreements, with a focus on real estate leases (commercial, retail, residential), purchase agreements and property management-related documents (PMAs)
  • Provide asset management and property management support from a legal and compliance perspective for US offices
  • Oversee external counsel on litigation and L&T leasing matters
  • Work closely with the legal team on other matters as assigned

The Successful Applicant

  • JD from a US Law School
  • Admission to NY State Bar
  • 4-10 years of experience with residential NYC real estate law gained at a law firm, in-house, or a combination of both with a strong emphasis on real estate leasing and property management, particularly in one or more of the following asset classes: industrial, commercial/office, data center and lodging (dorming, multi-family)
  • Prior in-house experience preferred at a property manager/landlord
  • Experience dealing with PMAs and a wide range of leases, leasing agreements/amendments, etc.
  • Familiarity with applicable United States federal and state laws, particularly as they relate to real estate matters
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as a high level of integrity
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal clients at all levels
