Our client has been in business for over 40 years. They are known for their culture, stability and diverse group of clients. They serve industries including power generation, pulp & paper and aerospace. This position will report to the Engineering Manager and is open due to continued business growth. The role will oversee a team of 3 individuals and offers a clear progression path to the Engineering Manager position.

Job Description

  • Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders
  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to inform decision-making
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, including electrical, civil, and software engineers, to integrate mechanical systems into larger projects
  • Utilize CAD software and other tools to create detailed designs, prototypes, and simulations
  • Oversee the testing, validation, and optimization of mechanical systems, analyzing data and making recommendations for improvements
  • Manage vendor relationships and procurement processes to source materials and components for projects
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance during the manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases of projects
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and bes

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, ISO)
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and allocate resources effectively
