About Our Client

We are currently partnered with a 200+ employee family owned construction company in their search for a Senior Project Accountant! The Project Accountant supports the project team as the liaison between the Project Management Operations team and the Accounting Team. They are responsible for supporting the project team in change management, financial management and reporting, owner billing and monthly owner reporting. Job Description

The Senior Project Accountant will be responsible for the following:

  • Set up Owner Billing template (SOV) per contract terms on owner requisition
  • Create Billing Cycle processing dates calendar and drive the monthly invoice process through timely completion in compliance with contractual requirements and internal monthly close requirements
  • Verify Accounts Payable Invoices are received and accurate and support team with cost coding, following up with Vendors for adjustments or corrections
  • Create monthly reports on over/under billing and cost analysis
  • Create monthly reports to verify subcontractor billing software is accurately posted to accounting software
  • Compile change requests including reviewing for accuracy, entry into Sage Software and distribution to owner
  • Update and manage project cost report excel file. Support team to ensure all projected costs and change events are being accurately managed
  • Schedule and Lead Internal/External Change Meetings (Review open change events and financial logs)
  • Compile Owner Change Orders with approved change requests, issue to client and update pay app accordingly.
  • Issue Sub Change Orders with proper supporting documents
  • Track and file sub labor rates and labor reports per project requirements
  • Update and compile monthly financial and owner reporting documents for Project Manager and/or Project Executive review and drive timely submission to Owner
  • Create and manage any client/project specific reporting or logs
  • Support Project Controls Manager with group reporting to senior leadership
  • Support the project teams with additional responsibilities with a can-do attitude to drive project success

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Senior Project Accountant will have the following qualifications:

Ability to navigate software

  • Accounting or Finance Degree Preferred
  • 4+ years experience in Project Accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, BlueBeam. Experience with AIA Documents, Sage/Timberline, Procore and Textura a plus
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take charge with professional confidence
  • Bring a positive attitude to the team & culture
  • Skilled multi-tasker with a strong ability to prioritize and work well under pressure
  • Quick learner, strong work ethic, resourceful and self-starter
  • Understanding of job costs and owner billing
  • Prior experience working for a construction company is preferred
