Job Description

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including historic restoration and commercial interior construction
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control from preconstruction through closeout
  • Coordinate closely with superintendents, architects, engineers, conservators, and ownership teams
  • Oversee procurement, buyout, contract administration, change management, and pay applications
  • Manage specialty trade contractors and preservation-focused subcontractors
  • Review historic documentation, surveys, and condition assessments to support accurate execution
  • Track and manage approvals, inspections, and agency reviews common to historic projects
  • Ensure quality control procedures, including mock-ups and test panels, are properly documented and approved
  • Maintain clear communication across internal teams and external partners
  • Support commercial interior and restaurant projects including kitchens, amenity spaces, hotel renovations, and lobby fit-outs

The Successful Applicant

  • 5-10+ years of experience as a Construction Project Manager
  • Experience managing historic preservation, restoration, or rehabilitation projects preferred
  • Strong background delivering commercial interiors, restaurants, or food & beverage projects
  • Solid understanding of construction means and methods for historic structures
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in fast-moving environments
  • Experience working with speciality trades such as masons, preservation carpenters, plasterers, and metal fabricators
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and change control
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
  • Experience working in urban or regulatory-heavy environments such as Washington, DC is a plus
