Description

  • Business Development:
  • Partner with the CFO and the CEO to identify, evaluate, and execute collaborations, partnerships, and out-licensing opportunities that leverage our clinical, preclinical, and/or research stage assets.
  • Provide an informed, data driven perspective on our BD strategy.
  • Draft and negotiate term sheets utilizing creative deal structures and processes that result in business success and maximize value.
  • Manage the due diligence processes including establishing and maintaining data rooms coordinating with the functional leadership to compile and summarize diligence information, as required.
  • Actively identify and build a direct network of potential BD partners.
  • Draft and execute possible contracts with partners.
  • Partner with finance team to determine increased shareholder value of possible deals
  • Partner with legal counsel when drafting new contracts
  • Alliance Management:
  • Establish a collaboration management capability to oversee partnerships and collaborations that are the result of our executed BD deals.
  • Lead effective and efficient joint project teams. Build and nourish team culture including a sense of mutual accountability and trust. Ensure timely and efficient flow of information, meeting materials, and outcomes.
  • Track and report health of the alliance and progress against key partnership objectives or key acquisition value drivers. Establish alliance best practices.
  • Define collaboration goals, track progress, and oversee actions to ensure achievement of those goals. Proactively engage partners to manage issues and unexpected events and resolve conflicts at the lowest level.

The Successful Applicant

  • BS/BA required; and/or advanced life sciences degree (MD or PhD) preferred.
  • 10+ years of related experience in pharma/biotech with a record of accomplishment in business development and/or alliance management in a Therapeutic company.
  • Great understanding and knowledge of partnerships, contracts, and alliance management.
  • Strong skills in negotiation and collaboratively influencing others.
  • Experience executing international BD deals, across multiple continents
  • Experience managing multi-program alliances, as well as experience integrating complex partnerships, including potential carve-outs, and developing best practices.
  • Solid network in biotechnology and pharmaceutical organizations.
  • Expertise in the drug discovery and development process.
  • Superior organizational, planning, and project management skills.
  • Collaborative work style in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to navigate between strategic thinking and tactical execution.
  • High level of comfort working with and influencing all levels within the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A high degree of personal initiative.
  • Ability to manage difficult conversations and interactions as they arise.
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict; negotiation skills.
